Astro-Med is now AstroNova

On May 18th, 2016, Astro-Med, Inc. officially began doing business as AstroNova® on worldwide basis.

The Astro-Med name was originally based on the two markets where the company applied its data visualization technology, aerospace and medical. Since seceding from the medical business in 2013, the “Med” part of the name no longer accurately described the company’s business.

AstroNova was selected to fit the company’s transformation strategy. “Astro” refers to the company’s strong roots in the aerospace business. “Nova” comes from the Latin word “novus,” meaning “new.”

AstroNova exemplifies the company’s traditional strengths in aerospace, plus its expanding presence in test and measurement, product identification and additional areas where data visualization technology can be applied.

What’s more, AstroNova also signifies the company’s operating philosophy.

The AstroNova Operating System is a comprehensive business management process to drive operational excellence throughout a growing global organization. It represents how the business is managed to achieve continuous improvement in quality, delivery, cost and growth. The system focuses AstroNova team members’ talents on achieving specific business objectives.

Continuing to expand, AstroNova acquired TrojanLabel®, a growing force in the digital label presses, overprinting and specialty printers industry in 2017. The acquisition of TrojanLabel amplified the strength and capabilities of both the QuickLabel and TrojanLabel brands; each known leaders in their respective industry. Through this acquisition, AstroNova Product Identification expanded its reach to commercial printers and printing houses, thanks to TrojanLabel OEM customized printing systems. Our new, innovative force is now able to provide products, services and supplies that improve the consumers’ ability to track and market their products in small to large scale businesses, spanning all industries.

Customers will continue to use the present purchasing process and work with their existing sales representatives. The TrojanLabel® brand will continue to be used for products offered by the company’s TrojanLabel company, now part of the AstroNova Product Identification business. Corporate, businesses and product line logos and colors will be unified under a new AstroNova® branding system. The AstroNova name is registered on the NASDAQ stock exchange. The company’s shares will continue to trade under its prior symbol, ALOT.

AstroNova is a critical infrastructure industry as our brands QuickLabel, TrojanLabel, and GetLabels supply industries, including medical supply, medical device, pharmaceutical, chemical, janitorial, food, transportation, and defense. As the recent pandemic started to unfold, we took swift action to mobilize many of our global team members to work remotely while enhancing our cleaning procedures and securing our production facilities. Inventories were increased, and we are in regular contact with our suppliers to monitor their status.

We encourage our customers to make sure they have orders in place with us to carry through these unusual times.
